Splatte is the upper rock. Owlette is located bel...

Description

This is another small rock above Owlette on Castle Mountain. It may have another local name...which can be added. There is definitely terrain to be climbed here for the wandering types. The exact demarcations of NP land is unclear in the vicinity, so tread carefully.

There are some short sections of very attractive-looking rock here.

Note, there is plenty of evidence of a healthy mountain lion population in these woods, so keep an eye out for your kids & smaller climbing partners. These hungry ones seem capable of taking out elk...evidenced by the multiple carcasses.

Getting There

From US 34, this rock is located west of Window Rock & Castle Rock. It is almost directly above Owlette.
