Description 

Junction Boulder is a nice big boulder that sits just off I-70 and on the opposite side of the road from Junction Rock. Its uphill side offers several problems close to the ground and with perfect, flat landings. The highway side has several moderate highball problems that could reach upwards of 20 feet. The west side has several intricate face problems that run through a gently concave ending. Since I don't record boulder problems in the same way as routes, it's not clear how many problems exist overall, perhaps a dozen have been done. The crash pad is optional. The rock is a tad sharp, but not offensive. In some ways the Junction Boulder is more pleasing than the Boulders below Ra because the falls are so nice. Junction Rock offers a good outing on solid stone that has has trivial access.


Getting There 

Follow the directions to Junction Rock. The main boulder is on the opposite side of the road and about 100 feet from I-70. You can park at the large pull-out by the light.

I have a friend that grew up near here. I talked to him this summer about an area that he developed I think he called it the bone yard, anyway his name is Steven Breed. I think this area sounds similar to what he described. If you want more beta, look the brotha up, he would probly love to show you what's up, because of all of the hard work he put into the area and the little traffic it sees. He mentioned that he was climbing with Brian Capps (not sure of the correct spelling) and his brother at the time when the area was established. I think he lives in either the Springs, Empire or Georgetown, but I forget cause last time I saw him we were partyin'! Maybe Brian would know.

While looking for this boulder, I found a handful on the south side of I-70, along the frontage road towards Dumont. Some holds have chalk, and someone has been partying here. Looks close to private land, anyone know for sure? Definitely not a destination spot, but worth a stop if you travel I-70 a lot like me. Any info would be helpful.
