The city of Redcliff is upgrading their sewer system and has signs prohibiting the usual parking and hiking for Gilman. Also parking above, Frontage Road shoulder, is off limits.
Hemingway's Farewll is on the West side of the creek. Most of the climbs in Gilman are on the East side. From the parking area, follow the railroad tracks until they fork --take the left fork (west side of creek) for about ten minutes, and look for a mile marker "295" sign on your left. Just past the sign -- scramble up the talus for 40 feet. Hemingway's Farewell is the middle of the 3 sport routes. It was the first route on the wall. Face climb up the slightly overhanging black granite wall on crimps and slopers, pass the upper hang and head slightly right for the chains. The route is surprisingly pumpy and requires a bit of endurance and some technique between bolts #2 and #3.
