This ice climb is not in Silverplume, but on Mt. Sniktau just a little west of Silverplume on the south side of I-70 near the Loveland Ski area. Take the Loveland Ski area/U.S. route 6 exit, and park at the Loveland Valley Skiing parking lot (Just before you go back eastbound on I-70). Hike west on the Loveland/Bakersville Trail until you reach a dominant gully. Then hike up this gully to the ice; the hike will take 20-45 minutes depending on snow depth. The ice fall is about 25-30 feet tall, and is a good place for beginners. Also, this ice route can almost guarantee solitude.
I think there might be an error in the directions to this ice. The Bakerville/Loveland trail heads East out of this lot, not West. I am not sure of the location of the "dominant" gully because I couldn't find it. Can anyone shed some light on this?
