Reflections from the approach to Black Lake. Long...

Description

The Reflections climbs spill over the left ridge on final approach to Black Lake. Although the main flow is an easy slab climb to the left, more interesting variations form to the right. The 30ft. wide near vertical curtain provides a worthwhile start. All three variations end together. Anchor possibilities include slinging boulder that is frozen into place and sinking vertical screws behind it. Direct decent: downclimb right on ledges to reach tree rappel. 60 meter rope.

Protection

Ice screws up to 22cm on lower curtain and a few nubs to protect the thin upper section. Bring cord and extra screws(short) for top anchor.

Toprope Protection

May be toproped with two 50+ meter ropes.

Climbed Reflections on 12/18/04 and found great conditions in the area. The curtain start looked much more interesting than the standard flow on the left though from Neil's picture, it seems thinner than last year. The final approach from the Black Lake trail involved deep snow and talus but was worth it.
