  Print a Mini-Guide - Includes Routes!

Todd Felix - Looking Strong in the Lead Area - Upp...

Description

This is a subarea created for better organization. It will include routes in between the bridges. Obviously, with an ice park, the routes will vary with spigot proliferation; however, much of this terrain has already been filled in, but then again, there are bolts for mixed routes.

For the time being, these routes will include: Extreme Dream to Wildebeast.

This area is the tightest section of the canyon, so very little light enters this section. Also, open water at the base can soak unwary ropes or climbers. Be prepared.

Getting There

Hike up to the ice park, or drive and park. Then go between the bridges. Most of the uphill area of this section is designated for lead climbing only. Most everyone will need to rappel in to climb these routes; however, if you're down in the canyon below the lower bridge, you just might be able to tip toe up to the ice...but I wouldn't count on that.

Brass Tacks WI4-5  CO : CO Ice & Mixed : ... : Between the Bridges
This popular route lies just downstream from the lead climb only area between the bridges, but well above the three pipelines that cross the gorge. This 120 foot classic, sustained line can be viewed in its entirety from the upper bridge and from the lookout platform on the east side. A fun and often tiring toprope workout with numerous variations. Very photogenic....[more]
