First pitch hero ice.

Description

A unique San Juan adventure that sees few ascents. Definitely do this one when the snow is non-existent to appreciate it fully.

Pitch One - Fat cruiser ice 150' - grade 3.

Pitch Two - Crux pitch, left and right variations 175' - grade 4-.

Pitch Three - Cruiser ice to the top 150' - grade 3.

Location

Follow the north end of Lime Creek road down to the gorge below the climb. Cross Lime Creek, and try to gain bench above climb. Once you see the climb from ridge, drop down deer trails into a cool amphitheater and get it on!! Approach takes approximately two hours each way.

Protection

Only ice screws. Walk off at top.
