Metropolis 5.11d  CO : Shelf Road : Contest Wall
This is a SUPERB route, if you are into the grade and are at the Contest Wall, do this route for sure. The crux comes early and there are great moves throughout this route. This route starts with the crux, getting to and past the first bolt then is in your face again at the last bolt, finishing wi...[more]

There have been many changes made to the routes on this cliff. For example, bolts changed from homemade to modern, bolts added, new starts added, anchors changed and trees removed. Always count the bolts to verify actual number; or just carry a few extra, many routes have three added bolts if they were runout before. You can also look for route names and grades written on the rock at the start of many new routes.

Any guidebook you have will be very out of date.

"route names and grades written on the rock" - are you insane?

I was just at the Contest Wall last month, and I found the new guidebook by Fred Knapp/Rick Thompson/Rich Aschert to be quite helpful and accurate. It's called Shelf Road Rock, put out by Sharp End Publishing, should be easy to find.
