Description

This obscure route is only of interest to the most dedicated of Flatiron scramblers. It begins only about 50 west of (and below) the rock saddle north of Bear Creek Spire. To get there, head up the easy slopes just west of Bear Creek Spire (after thrashing either up or down the creek to get below Bear Creek Spire). There are falcon closure signs in the area near Bear Creek Spire, and it is not clear to me if this approach or route is legal to climb during wildlife closures. Perhaps it is best to plan to do it Aug 1-Feb 1.

Start up the easy rib of rock. The lower section is somewhat of a joke, because if you step right a few feet you are in hiking territory. However it still feels like a rock climb, because if you step left you will fall down a 20' cliff and break your leg. Continue up the rib and either finish with the South Ramp route, or scramble off to the east.
