Description 

The most popular area at the Sport Park: lots of moderate routes packed into a fairly small area. Often sees crowds of climbers and dogs. A great place to hang out and socialize as you move from route to route. Morning sun makes this a good choice for cooler days.

Routes on the left side of the South Face:

A. Choss Temple Pilots, 8, 6 bolts. Climb face just R of L arete of S Face.
B. Killer Fish Taco, 11a, 7 bolts.
C. The Fix, 11a, 7 bolts.
D. South Crack, 8, trad. Wide crack and chimney.

Routes on a west-facing wall in the middle of the South Face:

E. Chasing Sticks, 9+, 5 bolts.
F. Vitamin V, 10a, 5 bolts.
G. Wavy Gravy, 10b, 5 bolts.
H. Dutch Oven, 9, 6 bolts.
I. Monkey Bob, 8, 4 bolts. Overhang by arete in middle of South Face.

Routes on the right side of the South Face:

J. Hood Surfing in Socks, 11c, 6 bolts.
K. Platinum Curl, 11, 6 bolts.
L. The Touch, 8, 7 bolts.
M. Dirty Dave's Dumpster Dive, 10a, 6 bolts.
N. Double Down, 7 or 10a, 6 bolts.
O. Frictionary, 7, 6 bolts. Slab on upper right side of South Face.


Getting There 

Follow direction for Surprising Crag. The trail comes up to the crag near the route Monkey Bob.

Routes on the left side of the south face of Surprising Crag.  Choss Temple Pilots shares the first two bolts with Killer Fish Taco, then branches left.<br /><br />The Fix tackles the overhang to the right.

The west-facing wall on the South Face of Surprising Crag.<br /><br />Routes are right of The Fix and left of Monkey Bob.<br /><br />Vitamin V is the second route from the left.  The first bolt is up quite high; you can clip the first bolt on Wavy Gravy with a long runner if you want.

Monkey Bob.  The crux is turning the roof between the first and second bolts.  Climb straight up to the second bolt for the hardest line; slide right for an easier variation.

The Touch.  The crux upper face can be climbed left or right of the bolt line.

Dirty Dave's Dumpster Dive.  The lower section can be climbed using the corner left of the bolts, the hand crack right of the bolts, or just the face and thin crack by the bolts.<br /><br />The upper wall has a 10a face move past the next-to-last bolt.

Double Down.  The 10a crux is a thin face move past the first bolt; easier if you're tall.  This move can be bypassed by climbing the corner to the right.<br /><br />The route can be done as a 5.7 by climbing the corner right of the lower face and the crack right of the upper face.
