Description
The Wall of the Dragon lies above the Upper Gully. It is probably the most remote area at Avalon. Richard Rossiter established two new routes here in 2005.
2. Climb Dragon Direct in the West Gully, and continue up from the anchors to the ramp below the Wall of the Dragon. From the top of the ramp, go straight up to a tree on a beautiful ledge with a sweeping view of the canyon. Scramble down a ramp (northeast) to a platform with a conspicuous tree. Belay here for Dragon Fly and Dragon Slayer.
3. Hike up. Approach as for the Wall of The Goddess. Continue around to a gully of boulders that climbs right (south) beneath a steep wall (the Upper Gully). Scramble up the gully to a notch behind the Wall of The Goddess where one can look down to the south at a truly amazing wedged block. Turn left (east) and scramble up a steeper gully and a clean, exposed ramp that leads up to the left. From the top of the ramp, go straight up to a tree on a beautiful ledge with a sweeping view of the canyon. Gear up here. Scramble down a ramp (northeast) to a platform with a conspicuous tree. Belay here for Dragon Fly and Dragon Slayer.
