Description
The Clipboard Area is the steep wall adjacent to the Dominator wall, so the routes on both walls can be easily climbed in one session. Three good sport routes (Clipboard (11b), Chairman of the Board (11d), and Dominator (10b)) and three trad routes (Stigmata (10a), Dom Perignon (10a), and Dominatrix (8 or 10a)) are all within close proximity.
Routes from L->R:
A. Chairman of the Board, 11+, 1p, 50', 6 bolts. Steep face & pockets. B. The Clipboard, 11-, 1p, 50', 6 bolts. Steep face to overlap. C. Stigmata, 9+, 1p, 50', gear & bolt. R-angling crack.
Getting There
There are two ways to get to The Clipboard Area:
1. Climb up the talus field above the Tyrolean Traverse. A dirt path starts at the top of the talus. Follow the path uphill a bit until the trail splits. Continue up the hill on the right trail branch. You'll eventually reach a steep wall with a scooped-out face; this is the route Strange Science. Go left and climb up some big boulders to a flat area. The Clipboard Area is the steep smooth wall on the right. The Dominator wall is the overhanging, rust-colored wall just to the left. This is the most common approach.
2. Climb up the talus field above the Tyrolean Traverse. A dirt path starts at the top of the talus. Follow the path uphill a bit until the trail splits. Take the left branch, toward Tarot Wall. After about 10', a faint trail heads off right, up the hill. Follow this path uphill to a big tree at the base of the Dominator wall. Continue up to a flat area with a huge right-angle corner. The Dominator wall is on the left and The Clipboard Area is on the right.
