BETA PHOTO: Neva from South Arapahoe

Description

Mount Neva is an easily accessible 12,814' peak in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Neva has several pleasant rock scrambles (including the "classic" 4th class North Ridge) and moderate snow routes. The northeast face of Point 12,700 (a subsidiary peak on the North Ridge) looks clean and solid, and might hold the potential for some technical routes.

Getting There

Most of the reported climbs are accessible from the Fourth of July trailhead. Arrive early to secure a parking spot. To reach the trailhead, head south through Nederland on Colo 119 and take the right turn for Eldora. Continue for a little over 3 miles, forking to the right past the turn for the Eldora Ski Area, heading instead toward the small town of Eldora. Head west through Eldora for approximately 1.5 miles on a dirt road to another fork. Take the right fork and continue up the dirt road (slightly rough in spots) for another 4.5 miles or so to the trailhead parking lot.

Great for a mid to late June July ski. My advise would be to bring crampons and an axe depending on your approach and perhaps go a little lighter on the gear than we did.
