Pictures From Space, Taken From Bradford Washburn's Camera (AAC Event - Golden)
Submitted By: John McNamee on Sep 25, 2009
Okay, it's not climbing news so go ahead and fame me! I would like to put a plug in for this event..
Join us during the evening of September 30 at the American Mountaineering Center to see the last pictures ever taken from Bradford Washburn’s camera—from outer space no less. NASA Astronaut John Grunsfeld, a long-time member of the American Alpine Club, brought the camera on his recent mission to repair the Hubble. On September 30 John will return the camera for all to see, talk about the mission, and unveil the photos—which for a limited time will be displayed in the museum alongside some of Brad’s personal favorites. We suspect that Earth’s mountains will look smaller in the photos from space, but no less spectacular. Come see for yourself! The evening’s program is still being sorted out, but pencil in a reception for AAC members at 6:00PM, followed at 7:30PM by the presentation.
