Alpinist Magazine Sold!
Submitted By: John McNamee on Dec 29, 2008
The Get Outdoors website is reporting that Alpinist Magazine has been sold for 71k.
"In the end, the final bid was for $71,000. That's the bad news for the debt holders and/or investors given the millions that were pumped in. On the positive side, the new owners evidently plan to keep the magazine."
Anyone else know anything about this?

| It would be nice if they finished the rest of my subscription. |

| Yeah, I'd like to see that too. I bought a subscription a couple months ago and have not seen one magazine. Kinda lame.

| I want more then just to finish the subscription, but keep up the magazine and keep it at the quality it is at now. |

| It was the best climbing mag out there we need them back! I had a subscription too and it sucks that they havn't sent me anything in a while but I just want them to start printing again. |

| I had just renewed my subscription for several years and yes, it does suck. I won't do that again.
However, losing a job in something that they must have had a lot of passion for sucks more. Hopefully, something will rise from the ashes. |

| If you used your Visa to purchase the subscription, send a letter to your credit card company stating that you won't pay for the goods not received. I have had to do this several times, and it has worked every time. |

| If anyone knows who bought it, our company here can work with them to help get it started as well as keep it produced in the USA. |

| This is heartening news! It would be a pity to see the Alpinist go the way of the old Mountain Gazette, which was another excellent journal that unfortunately failed. Hopefully the 71k investment will be followed with serious support from the new owners. We have all enjoyed The Alpinist's stellar quality, and look forward to more of the same. I will continue to be a patron. Best of luck, tom kimbrell |
