Begining June 1st, the old Twin Owls parking lot and old Gem Lake roadside parking will no longer be available for public access.

The new Lumpy Ridge parking lot is located about 1/2 mile east of the MacGregor Ranch road. (still on Devils Gulch Road - CR43) Turn north on the new access road, and go another 1/4 mile. It will be clearly signed.

The new parking lot is paved and has a nice new restroom. It will add 0.7 miles to your one way walk to The Book, Batman, Pear and Sundance Rocks.

The memorial water faucet at the old Twin Owls lot will still be working. The Central Rockies Section, AAC has provided a Restop human waste) bag dispenser at the old lot location. Conservation of the National Park and back country areas is of concern.

They should make the old parking lot into a cheap camp ground! Money for the the Park Service, and an excellent convenience. Just my opinion.

New trail, lot and restrooms nicely done. No shuttle available. Closure information should be posted at this area and was not. Climbers visiting from out of town and have no internet access, were inquiring. Would be nice to know what is off-limits to plan at the parking area/trailhead without having to go to trail-fork where there is posting and then have to replan.

We hiked to Sundance from the new parking lot this weekend. We live at 5000', are fairly acclimatized and in moderately good shape. 1 hour and 15 minutes from the car to the base of Sundance. Nice parking area with higher capacity and beautiful trail between the new and old parking.
