I don't ice climb anymore so this is probably old news, but in today's Denverpost there is an article by Dave Cooper about the ongoing development of the Lake City Ice Park. Although it is still early days in the development and they don't intend to be fully functional until next year it looks like there will be another option to Ouray in the near future. In the meantime it looks as though there are plenty of routes to keep busy.

The L.C. ice park is now up and runnin' with a certified permit no less. My buddies Mike, Freeze, and Mad Dog have established quite a few climbs. Most are pretty moderate. This was just the first year so fall/spring 06/07 should offer a lot more routes. Lake City has tons of sick ice/mixed routes all over from the town ice park to IXL mountain to Jedi Mind Tricks at Tick Rock. Stop by Sweet Peas a local grub spot on main street and Mandy will give you the low down. Happy Hunting.
