Coll's Cove parking lot is CLOSED until further notice. MORE INFO >>>
ACCESS ALERT! Coll's Cove parking lot is CLOSED until further notice. On Saturday a parked car was blocking the way for a gas line vehicle to enter. It is the responsibility of the land owner to keep that right of way open for gas line traffic, so he has currently disallowed parking at this location. HOWEVER the land owners are willing to build a gravel lot in the field to the right. The SWPCC (South Western Pennsylvania Climbing Coalition) will be hosting a fund raiser soon to pay for a load of gravel and kiosk. You will be required to sign a release of liability waiver and donate $5 per car to the land owner once the new lot is complete. If you are desperate to go to Coll's in the meantime, please contact myself or Mike Steighner. We have been given permission to park in the land owners driveway, and would be happy to give you a tour. Please spread the word!
This information is a public crowdsourcing effort between the Access Fund,
and Mountain Project. You should confirm closures, restrictions, and/or related dates.

Description
Coll's Cove is a SWPA gem! Nestled beneath a mediocre cliff line exists hundreds of boulder problems on fine-grained "pa gritstone". With classics ranging from V0 to V10, and projects that will go in the double digits, Coll's has alot to offer. It is located on PA State Game Lands, and climbing is currently allowed. Please respect popular hunting seasons.
Keep in mind that listed here is only a handfull of the absolute classics, you are only seeing a small fraction of what is really here. You just have to come see for yourself!
Getting There
Follow GPS Coordinates to the parking lot, which is an entrance to a gasline access road. Do not block the gate. Hike down this road passing the First Rocks and Iron City areas visible to your left. When the road splits to the right, walk in the clearing to your left. You will see an old logging trail, this is the best trail to access the Sharp Shooter and Main areas. Follow orange ribbons left to Sharp Shooter, or follow blue ribbons to the Main area.
The Classics
Mountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Coll's Cove Bouldering:
Start as low as you can on the rail feature under the roof, with a right heel on. Move into crux holds, fire a big shouldery move, try not to dab, then mantle onto face. No topout necessary, just be standing on your feet. Many variations exist on this boulder and will be described in better detail in the future....[more]Browse More Classics in PA
I'm releasing the pre-guide to the general public! It features some of the best lines and areas at Coll's Cove, but there is much much more. The full official guide is still being produced due to continued development, and (pending some access issues) will be available soon. Please feel free to contact me if you want any more information.
Hunting season closures! Colls cove will be closed from November 17th to 21st for bear and November 26th to December 8th for deer. You may still go on Sundays as long as you wear some flame orange. We take it upon ourselves to restrict our own access during these popular hunting seasons. Please spread the word!
