I aquired a bunch of old chuinard equipment. i have sets of the first hexes, stopers and big circular things. i also have a old chuinard hammer. i do not know wat to do with them.

Any suggestions?

i found this stuff in an old trunk full of climbing gear.
my dad used to climb in the 70s. this stuff is also all really used.
i dont really want to sell it. just find out the values.

When those tumplines came into the shop I was working at in the late '70s it took about 10 seconds for them to get renamed "Chumplines".

If you don't want to sell it there are a bunch of shops that would take it off of your hands and use it for ambiance. Check out Neptunes or any of the other specialty shops around. The hammer is the only item mentioned with any value. My guess is that some idiot on ebay might go as high as $200 for it. Someone who knows its former retail value + inflation - depreciation and has a desire for posing to their partners with it as if they were there Back In The Day may go as high as $100. Otherwise it's worth 10 bucks. The hexes and whatnot might make a nice wind chime. The wind chime would be worth 10 bucks. The memories and dreams they may instill in you knowing that your own father toiled with these things, though, is priceless - so I'd keep them - especially if you are 14, as in your profile. You were the one back in the day - he likely put that stuff aside to make room for you or someone in your family.

I'm not even sure what we are talking about here... lets get an inventory.

This thread has gotten me thinking about my Old Wall Hammer. I used to have one of the originals but someone borrowed it from my pack in Burma ( I suppose all the other shit looked useless). Considering recent events where it disappeared, I wonder if it has become a time capsule. 10,000 from now some archeologist is gonna herniate his brain trying to figure out what that particular kind of hammer was useful for in the Irrawady delta.
