Since webbing is nylon I'm guessing its ok to wash the same way as a rope right? I was just going to soak it in a tub of warm water and air dry it in the house.

I have washed my sewn runners before(warm water, some suggest woolite also). I can't comment on how "safe" that is. Water shouldn't hurt nylon I would figure... It you think about it, the manufacturer doesn't have a warning: "DO NOT GET WET!!!". And removing dirt is definitely a good thing. Will that dirt have some adverse reaction with the water and damage the nylon... well then the webbing should be replaced if that is the worry. Don't know if that helps you.

Well I slung a charred tree and got the sling all charcoaly. So I am not worried about a reaction with the water and dirt. (I have thankfully passed that stage) Just wanted to make sure before I did it. The webbing is practically new so I'd like to keep it but it looks like hell and I dont want to get the rope dirty. It seems that on one of the previous threads about rope washing somone mentioned washing their webbing the same way but now I can't find it. Thanks again.

Noah's first rope...kinda.

Ash is very basic, which has a similar effect to acid when it comes to it's effect on skin and I am assuming nylon. I would wash in a large bin of water and personally (not based on any manufacturers claims) use some baking soda in the water to neutralize the base effect of the ash/char. Then warm water, then cold water then air dry. Maybe you want to call the sling manufacturer first though and get their opinion.
