I recently was gym climbing with new Trango Smooth quickdraws and loaded one of them to repell. The biner bent slightly and it appeared that the gate was no longer in contact with the keylock. Is this a concern to anyone else? My thoughts are that when I take a fall on this quickdraw the biner will stretch enough so that the biner becoems open loaded, reducing its strength to 8kn.

JoJo,
I'd love to get some more info from you on this. Was the gate open when you weighted it? Was it up against another carabiner or a rope or sling in the anchor mess. Please call me at 303/909-6067.

I've been using my Smooths now for a year and have been really happy with them. They don't seem to be too flexy...

My Top Secret Yet to be named crag.

switched my whole sport rack to the smoothes. I love them! They have the keylock bolt end and wiregate on the rope end (which I'm told was a special order for the gear shop straight from the Trango folks). I put the Petzl strings on them(my only gripe being they don't have a retainer for the bolt side biner but oh well) and BOOM. Gave all my BD draws away.

no such issues with bending or flexing.
