So I'm finally fed up with my wrist leash set-up while ice climbing. They're nothing fancy and maybe a better leash system would change my mind, but I'm trying leashless for now*. The problem is, I'm using an old-school set of Black Prophets (bent shaft, non-carbon) and none of the after-market pinky or trigger finger rests will fit (at least not that I know of). I don't climb anything hard (WI3-4 at the most), but a little positive grip would be nice.

Has anyone tried cinching a hose clamp on the shaft to either use the tightening screw as a trigger finger rest or to attach something a bit larger? Any other suggestions?

• I'm not committed enough to go completely leashless. I've fashioned a pair of bungy-and-webbing tethers to connect spike to harness. That should at least prevent me from dropping a tool half-way up the pitch and let me put at least body weight on anchors.

With a little Dremel work you can probably mod the aftermarket BD fangs that fit the Vipers to fit you Prophets. I did this for my Cobras a few years ago and it has worked out pretty well for occassional leashless use but is still a far cry from a proper leashless tool for harder mixed climbing.
