Be careful clipping Nalgene loops. I learned early in my backpacking days when I would try to pull a nalgene out of my pack by the loop that they are not meant for abuse but simply as a keeper for the cap when it is off. | FLAG |

It's a tool that electricians use to set the appropriate wattage in a system. | FLAG |

| I have one of these Metolius Climbing Harness Hydration packs, but haven't used it yet. It has a Platypus hydration bladder, 2 gear loops, and a place for keys, energy bars, etc. Seems to stay out of the way pretty well on the back of the harness, but we'll see.

| No offense to the REI crew but I just cant see laying out $12-$15 for something that I usually drop or break .
These are bomber and cheap and light . Never had one break or top pop off from dropping .

| Jason has it right on with 'sketch'.
Tie 4mil cord into a loop; clove-hitch the loop onto the top of a Nalgene, Gatorade bottle, 2L soda bottle or whatever.
Leave an inch or two to clip; the loop is absolutely bomber and you can put it on anything. Duct tape is unnecessary, adds weight and not so bomber.
Siggs are prep and cool in class until you actually use the expensive can outside and scratch and dent the sweet graphics. Then you look like another rich dirtbag. I usually empty my Camelbak too soon and they're no good in an impromptu chimney. Also have to carry an extra bottle anyway to fill the reservoir out of a stream.

| I've developed something that racks a Nalgene and is a full strength emergency runner... I'd show you but... you know. | FLAG |

Hey now. I LIKE my Sigg. But I only use it for class. It has scratches and dents from use over the years and I think that they give it "character." You know, battle scars. However, when I head out to the rock, it's my trusty UVPE (opaque white) Nalgene. Won't break, contains no BPA (big deal, yeah!) flexes if I fall or lean on it, looks better with scratches and is easy to rack. ('biner through the lid loop.) If I lose it, well it was cheap (got it free from a trail work day) and cheap to replace.
It has a few strips of duct tape on it, but only because the stuff is infinitely useful and I always seem to want it when I don't have it. | FLAG |

I've broken the lid loop on everyone nalgene I have owned, I don't think I would want to climb below or belay you. | FLAG |

| Hmm. I haven't had that happen, even on really old and abused nalgenes.
I'll give the taped accessory cord loop another thought. You don't have to climb with me if you don't want to; I'm not going to cry over it. | FLAG |
