| Ok, I need a resole done. I have a pair of Bandits and I love 'em, but the resoles at YosemiteBum are waaay too expensive and take a long time. I've heard loads of great things about Pro-Deal Resoles, but they only offer Stealth C4 or Sportiva XSV. I have a pair of Mocassyms, so I'm familiar with C4 rubber, but have found that it wears pretty fast. I've been very happy with Evolve's Trex rubber (once it breaks in), but like I said, resoles at YosemiteBum are just too much. So the question is: C4 or XSV? I prefer Trex to C4 because it wears better and edges better...if ProDeal offered Onyx I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, but that isn't the case. So??? Which one do you like better and why? | |

| pro deal resoles does offer onyx - ya just gotta ask for it.
Benet of Pro Deal Resoles wrote: I've switched to the Onyx in 4 mm, 5.10 only makes 5.5 mm with C4. I've used the High Friction (HF) rubber when it first came out and didn't like it and, more importantly, neither did the customers (wore out very fast).

| I recently sent in some shoes and not only did they did great work but they did some minor repair on some lamination of the heal at no extra cost! When is it that they only offer the Onyx if you ask? Why not have it as a regular option? | |

Agreed. I would think having this listed as an option would benifit Pro Deal. Printing out order form now...

| I'm on the fifth resole of my treasured mythos. I've done them with the C4 and the XSV. In my experience, the XSV lasts alot longer. 5-6 months verses 3-4 months in the c4.
I've never tried the Onyx.

| Ok, had to wait a while to give the new resoles a good test before posting back. Before sending my shoes out, I emailed Benet at ProDeal asking about which rubber he recommended. I got a reply that day and he told me that he exclusively uses Onyx in the 4mm thickness, which was the thickness I wanted, so I decided to give it a shot.
I sent them on a Tuesday and received them just over a week later on Friday (quick!). ProDeal Resoles did a great job on my shoes. I left it up to them to decide just how much work was needed and they did just that: nothing unnecessary. The shoes fit the same as before, which hasn't been the case in the past with a couple resoles I've gotten.
As for the rubber, well, this is the first time that I've noticed such a marked difference in performance. The Onyx rubber edges well and feels stickier than any other rubber I've tried (MadRock, C4 and Trax). Can't really comment too much on durability yet because I've only had the shoes back for a few weeks, but so far so good.
At this point, I would certainly recommend ProDeal Resoles to anybody in need of a resole. Customer service was excellent, the work was well done and speedy, and the price was right.
