I've had really great contact with the Mammut guys. I placed an order with them, but, had an issue. They emailed and phoned me to make sure I was satisfied, then followed up after awhile to make sure things went well. Items arrived as promised.

unless you work for mammut and are therefore personally offended, this judgment seems premature. it's possible that he already tried contacting them using this information and failed to reach anyone. even if he didn't, let him blow off some steam. it's really frustrating to buy something and have it break almost immediately. |  |

| J Wood, Here is a little heads up about what is going to happen. Once you get in contact with Mammut they are going to tell you to send the item to Rainy Pass Repair (Washington I beleive). You are going to have to pay shipping and wait like 10 weeks for the jacket to come back. I have done this one before, can you tell? My advise is to either learn to sew, if you don't already, and fix it yourself or wait until the season you'll need it the least because it won't come back from Rainy for quite a while. | I don't know why you can't get a hold of them but a bad zipper isn't necessarily their fault, it could be the zipper manufacture that screwed up, I bought a pair of jeans once that had a bad zipper and I didn't get pissed at wrangler jeans, I know jeans aren't the same as expensive gear... | Mammut makes fantastic equipment. It is some of the best designed gear out there. Although the left handed euro zipper does takes some getting used to. That being said remember that quality control is never a constant. Every manufacturer lets some lemons slip by. Sorry you have had problems. Try again. |  |

| We North Country folk are sometimes a little too laid back for the rest of the Starbucks drinking world, so take a pill, get your jacket fixed and move on. There is certainly no room for over-generalizations and cheap shots especially if it's an opinion formed from an isolated incident.
And although I am biased (I live in the heart of Mammut country up here in VT, and literally down the road from the warehouse), Mammut has some of the best customer care and some of the best product design in the industry, hands down. |  |

| Um, are you talking about the same company that makes those unbelievably awesome ropes? I remember when "Black Diamond" started selling backpacks. My friend bought one and it eventually fell apart. At the time I said they made great climbing hardware but their venture into soft goods was shakey. Same thing about Marmot. (AT THE TIME) they made outstanding sleeping bags (I still own two), and their initial clothing aspirations were needless to say of questionable superiority (despite the Muggs Stump endorsement)...Stick to those that do what they do well....? |  |

| Mammut rules. I own numerous pieces of equipment - two ropes, a superlight GoreTex jacket and some climbing carabiners. All of their equipment is super functional and light weight. It took about 2 days to get used to the Euro zipper, other than that I have no complaints. |  |

| I posted the thread because I had already contacted the company, waited a few months, and contacted them twice after that. The day after I posted this (and on rc.com) out of frustration with not getting any response, they contacted me with the same instructions Dane said they would give. Maybe I was quick to judge, but still frustrating to wait months for a response.
And besides, how you can you stay mad at a logo like that? |  |

FYI -I was told their new website-online-shopping setup immediately routes your order out to the smaller independent retailers, giving them the chance to sell to you directly. If the item is not in stock anywhere, you're supposed to be notified quickly. IMO seems a pretty spiffy-nu-way to do online biz, I haven't tried it yet though |  |
