Right now I climb in Koflachs but they are a bit cumbersome. I have very wide feet and the LA Sportiva shoes are too painful for me to wear. I tired the Kayland M11 and they are closer but still too narrow. I need a pair that is compatible with the Grivel Rambo 4 and won't cripple me. Any suggestions are welcome.

Beer float!

I'd check out Vasque boots. They seem to fit higher volume feet well.

Scarpa, Raichle, etc.. might work because they are slightly wider than La Sportiva, but I'd check out Vasque first.

I used to wear Salomons and was really happy with them. you might want to check out La Sportivas. I used to write them off for the same reason as you but it seems they have changed their last to something wider. the new silver ones (I forget the name) were surprisingly comfy for my wide feet.

From a sort of Fred Flinstone type, some La Sportiva fit differently. I found the old Nepal Extreme were decent for wide feet, but I think you'd have to shop used for those, plus they are pretty heavy for M-type climbers.

Looking down from Notchtop

I have a wide foot and found a good fit with the Vasque Super Alpinisa. So far so good. It was even comfortable to ski in all day Saturday in my AT setup.

I ended up going with these guys http://www.vasque.com/products/m-mpossible.cfm

FYI the Redwing shoe store in Boulder (NW corner of 28th and Arapahoe) has several Vasque Ice 9000 and Super Alpinista boots on sale right now. They are going for 200-300 dollars and have size 9.5 and under and 10.5 and above. There are Ice 9000s going for 250 dollars.

I probably should have posted this earlier, but for what it's worth I got my Alpinistas from sierratradingpost.com for $140

Right now they still have a wide range of sizes for $219, but check the internet for coupon codes... you should be able to get at least 20% off w/ free shipping.

Get a half size bigger for super wide feet (like mine).

Me leading railroad tracks at the creek.

Try Lowa. Probably the widest out of everything mentioned. The Mountain Expert is a great all around, step in crampon compatible boot.
