| So my waste is to small for my pack. A problem I'm sure many of you wish you had. I've decided to buy a haul bag, something that can hold my 2 70M ropes, double rack and some other fun stuff. I'm torn between the Metolius Quarter Dome, Half Dome, or the Fish Grade V.
I want something that will be big enough for some bivy climbs in Zion next summer. Any suggestions folks?! | FLAG |

| My opinion is that any difference between them is negligible. A haulbag fulfills a very basic function on walls. Buy new for price, buy used. I bought mine dirt cheap used four years ago, been up several walls, still kicking just fine.
Weird question, though. A haulbag isn't going to replace a "pack", fit your svelte waist comfortably, or ever be anything less than painful when fully loaded and on an approach/descent. Unless you're talking about a Stubby/Atom Smasher? | FLAG |

| The quarter dome holds just enough for grade 4/5 climbs and you can use it as a crag pack as well. It holds 70 litres. Its bombproof and carries pretty well. BUT it is not a pack, the comfort level is pretty low. You most likely won't get your ropes inside but over the top.
The black Diamond Touchstone is a good inexpensive haul bag that many people use in Zion. It's the same size as the quarter dome.
The met half dome is much larger, good for two people for 2 or three days. It carries like a sack of potatoes, but better than some other haul bags I've used. It's a really nice well made haul bag.
I'd go for the Touchstone or the Quarterdome.
Also, make sure you ONLY buy light colored haul bags. A black or dark colored haul bag will fry things inside during hot days on a wall. | FLAG |

| I do understand a haul bag isnt a pack. Lucky for me, I dont do much that requires a long hike in or out. So it seems that the consensus is to go with either met or BD, fish is out? | FLAG |
