I was just wondering peoples opinions of the shell jackets with goretex pro shell. Or if anyone really liked any other shell fabrics such as event... I am looking to buy an all purpose shell for everything from mountaineering to backpacking in the pacific northwest. I want something that is pretty waterproof, but also durable, weight is not an issue. Thanks for your help in advance!

I've been climbing ice in mine for three seasons now, as well as ski-mountaineering a bit, riding the resorts, summer showers etc. etc. Still no leaks/holes other than one small ciggy burn in the cuff, but seam grip sealed it up right tight.

Best all around climbing shell if you ask me. Expensive, but like my momma always used to say...

Ya get what ya pay for!
