| I don't have a pair yet, though I will hopefully have them soon. I spoke to a five ten rep about them at a demo day (sadly he didn't have any with him) and he said they have the same last as a pair of mocs, onyx rubber (in spite of some places saying they have mystique), and are unlined leather. Basically he said I should get them in the same size as my mocs and the laces will help compensate for any stretch of course. | FLAG |

| Any opinions on the Copperheads? I see they're on sale for less than a pair of Moccasyms. If they're the same thing but with laces and more rubber on the top, seems like it would be a good deal. | FLAG |

| I'm thinking the sales (backcountry & zappos) on the copperheads is to clear inventory before the mystique copperheads come out. I haven't seen the copperheads in any shops and haven't had a chance to try them on. Anyone have the chance to use them yet? | FLAG |

| The Copperhead has our Onyx rubber on the sole, originally the shoe was envisioned with our Mystique rubber on the sole. However production limitations prevented that from becoming a reality. Since the shoe utilizes Onyx rubber, the sole is about 2mm thicker than originally planned. On the durometer scale Onyx rubber is 80-84, it is the hardest rubber we make, the next hardest rubber is C4 which is 76-80. Due to the harder nature of the rubber Onyx wears longer than C4. The sales on backcountry and zappos are not to make way for the Mystique rubber model as we don't have any plans to produce Mystique rubbered Copperheads anytime in the near future. | Five Ten, Thank you for explaining. I've just ordered a pair and can't wait to check them out. If they're sized like the Moc's I should be good to go :) | FLAG |

| Just tried out my Copperheads. They broke in quicker than I thought. I have an old pair of Mocs in 7.5 and bought my Copperheads in the same size. I wear a 8.5 running sneaker. The Copperheads felt snug, not tight. My broken in Mocs are super comfortable (even after a resole). I didn't mind the tight fit and got right to work with them Saturday morning in the rain in the gunks. I did slip but will blame the wet rock not the shoes.
Day 2 however was nice and I got a couple pitches in. My feet were bright orange and the shoes felt relaxed pretty quickly. It was a pretty warm day. The rubber hasn't molded to my foot (like in good pair of old shoes) but the upper definitely stretched right out. The shoes performed well, with better edging power than the mocs. We did some cracks in Lost City and I was happy with the foot jams. They performed well on a thin face TR we set up too but this is not a high performance edging shoe (ie: Optimus Primes).
I would consider going a full size AND a half smaller. I hope they don't continue stretching much more. | FLAG |

| I have a pair but for me the jury is still out. For a long time the 5.10 Mocasym was my go to shoe for all trad so I love 5.10 shoes, until the LaSportiva Barracuda came out, which I now use on 5.12 and 5.13 cracks. Thought the Copperheads would go head to head with the Barracuda's but not so. They do edge much better then the Mocassyms (or atleast right now and I have about 40pitches in them) but the toe isn't as flat as the Mocasymms or Baracudas (or atleast on my foot).
They may end up being a shoe I absolutely love but I'm not there yet, (whereas the first time I used the Barracudas I loved them). | FLAG |

| I finally picked up a pair of the copperheads and like others have some mixed feelings on them.
Sizing: I got a 9, and my street shoe size is 11, after 2 days climbing they have stretched out and are comfortable. I really hope they don't keep stretching.
Performance: They have been steller on thin cracks, better than any other shoe I've owned. I don't know why fiveten didn't put a better midsole on them. It would make them better for hand cracks and wider, although, this is not what I bought them for. They edge pretty well when I sinch down the laces. I'm excited for them to be a comfortable shoe for multipitch, and then I can sinch down the laces for crux pitches.
I have gotten weird looks from nonclimbers lately when wearing flip flops as my feet are bright orange. Overall awesome shoe for straight cracks, which is what I will use them for, probably not as all around as the moccasym. | FLAG |
