| Has anyone ordered directly from E-Climb in Spain? Has anyone ordered from an overseas company before and had to pay customs and duty? | FLAG |

| I've ordered a Technical Friend from a company in England and didn't have to pay customs or duty. That was only about 4 months ago. I think you get an exemption below a certain dollar amount. Not sure what that amount is though. | FLAG |

| I paid $650 for a set of E-Climb screws. Now a customs brokerage company says I owe $124 for customs and duties. Does this sound right? I have never orderd from Europe before. Dan | FLAG |

| You aren't the first to receive unexpected customs and duties charges. It is the customer's responsibility to find out what they will be charged. Don't blame e-climb. The fees can be assessed by product material, value, country of origin, personal or commercial use etc. I don't think you will be able to receive your screws without paying, and you won't be able to get out of paying. Good luck. | FLAG |

| No, I don't blame E-Climb. They have been very strait forward with me that I can tell. I do believe your right. $124 is hard to swallow though. These are nice screws but damn! | FLAG |

| I guess what I should have said was I doubt you will be able to get out of paying. You can ask what your options are. Maybe they could return them to Espana. You may or may not have to pay for shipping, but I suppose it is worth asking. I'm not trying to be a jerk, so don't take this the wrong way. In the future you might want to check for US distributors of international gear. You can scrap international shipping, figuring out conversion rates if they haven't done it for you, and conversion fees from Visa. I've only seen Petzl and Black Diamond screws in shops and catalogs. So I checked out e-climb's website, and went to English (the Great Britain flag). Then went to "where to try" (this is often called distributors on other manufacturer's websites) and saw a USA location in Ouray. If you are able to return the gear, even if you are charged a fee for this, you may be able to recover some of your money on the savings you get from Ouray Mountain Sports. Good luck! | FLAG |
