i have experience with the Pontas and the Technos. The Pontas i found stretch like a bitch, but are good for overall climbing. The Techno's are less aggressive, but in my opinion better. They don't have a heel rand (the laces loop in such a way that tightening them pulls the heel shut) Personally depending on what kind of climbing you want to do go with the Barracudas or the technos. The Barracudas will do everything the Pontas can do but better and the technos are great for precise foot work but also are super comfy!
i been rollin the technos for a while and love them. They edge and smear well, they also rock in cracks. comfy all day. get them....they will stretch about a half size
Looking at: Evolv Pontas, La Sportive Barracuda, or Scarpa Techno Any recommendations?
Barracudas are discontinued, good luck finding a pair in a "normal" size. The great news is that if you do they'll be heavily discounted... Made me really sad, they were the best all-around shoe I've had, comfy enough for long trad day, handling well in cracks (although they're not very stiff the upper lining helps in not brutalizing your toes) and on steep sport lines and turning into great slab shoes after a couple of resoles.
I have a pair of almost brand new Barracudas--I bought them in a panic on the way to the airport for a climbing trip when my old shoe blew out, tried 1 boulder problem in Tuolumne, and realized they were too big. I wore them a total of 15 minutes.
They are size 38. If you are interested in buying them from me email or call 907 382 0687
