Hey I am headed out to Puerto Vallarta, mexico in late June and trying to find out if there is any climbing out there. I know los arcos is off limits for DWS(bummer, looks sweet). I know there has to be something there. If anyone has any beta on where to go that would be awesome. Thanks for any help you have to offer. Thanx

Sorry Chalk,

Been going to P.V. for years and haven't found anything decent, although there are some man-made retaining walls that I've eyed, only climbed one and it was dicey - no pro. However, I always travel inland (have a home in the Sierra Madre Occidental 3 hours from P.V.) and there are lots of amazing formations. ALL are unexplored and likely to be real epic makers. I've communicated with Guadalajara climbers and they hear about stuff, but no one has given me decent beta. One wall, probably 150 meters, is near the town of Mascota, and seems accessible, but it probably depends on crossing private land. Everything else would require stiff hikes, probably over several days, in back country which may not be safe.

To the south are major volcanos so there might be some potential, but if you are looking for developed areas, the closest is north of Guadalajara. NI modo, go to Las Animas beach by taking a panga from Boca de Tomatlan and take a ride on a parachute or rent a moto aquatico. Order seafood and tequila from the local restaurants and you'll be in el cielo.

BTW, I'll be there in June also, probably in the middle.
