Can anyone please give me advice regarding most accessible climbing areas around Barcelona.?Also, I'm traveling alone and I'm keen to climb, know where I can hire gear and meet other climbers?

Grip strength training, Nevada style.

You can ride the train to Montserrat. There are a huge number of routes from single to multipitch and views are awesome.

Hey Karine, when are you planning on climbing over there? I'm heading out to Barcelona and want to do some climbing too! Hit me up on PM!

Trying to redpoint The Ugly 11c; steeper than it looks and the rock is scary in spots but good enough.

If you are alone, forget Monserrat. It is huge and you may run into someone after a hot day of hiking around.

Alone, head to Rodellar. Full of folks and I'm sure you will meet someone. But you need a car or ride.

I have a couple of friends I climb with in Barcelona. One is a guide. If you are interested, I'm sure you two may work something out. PM if interested.

FYI for future Barcelona-bound climbers: Up on Montjuic, where the Olympics were held, there is a tunnel and a road-cut that have together become a unique urban climbing location. If you're there solo, this is a great place to meet local climbers, and potentially find someone to go to Montserrat with.
