Just called one climbing school who says climbing areas can be accessed. Another says they cannot. I know how to access precipice / great head without going through the gates. Will we be kicked out if we do so? I'd like to know before the 5 hour drive!
Ethically I do not feel accessing climbing right now would be breaking any regulations, as it could be done in that manner you know about prior to the Park shutdown. However, be aware that any injuries will likely result in a rather long delay in rescue due to access problems. [no jinx intended, be safe :) ]
If you don't mind a little walk, you can use Schooner Head Rd to access the Precipice and Otter Cliff Rd. for Otter cliff. Neither of these roads are part of the park and are open year round. These are used for off-season access too (i.e. when the park is closed).
