FYI, CO State Patrol has been put on notice by their head person due to too many complaints for those who drive US 6 through CCC. So, they have up to 4 patrollers ticketing speeders at a time. The speed limit is 40 mph through the entire canyon!

Tickets for 55 mph cost 4 points and $170.

It's very easy to unintentionally speed especially when going downhill after a good day climbing!

Be careful out there.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe the increased police presence will discourage car break-ins. Silver lining?

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only "orphans" that could be found quickly, were a litter of weaner pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.
Put one of your mates in the trunk hands tied & stripped to the skivies. Have him (or her, no need to descriminate) pop out jackass style & book it down the road. Or use the Tommy Boy bees option with trunk guy

FWIW, there was an officer perhaps around tunnel 2 and one below tunnel 1, but then again that was only 2 of the 4. Net net, one ticket is the price of a rope or 3-4 cams!

Me, of course

Heat was on I-70 between Glenwood and GJ last few days too. Never seen so many HWY partol out on a Monday. I got harrassed by park rangers for pissing behind a tree in the middle of no where too, they told me I could be put on a sex offenders list for urinating in public, in the woods, WTF.

I got a ticket in Arizona doing 21 in a 15 mile zone on Monday. Trying to drive 15 miles an hour is really tough. 118 bucks.

The cops are all over I70 and CCC this time of year. I think they want to set the precident for summer travel early.

Although I too tend to speed in CCC I have recently tried to slow down a bunch. I've been told by several people that the road from Golden to Black Hawk (through CCC) is the most dangerous road in the state. I'm guessing it probually isn't the climbers, but all drunks driving back from hours at the casinos. I suggest everyone drive very defensively through the canyon regardless of their speed.

You can tell Lenny any of your sport climbing problems. He's a great listener.

It's a good idea to check your tabs are still valid... Easy to forget if you move and the reminder they mail doesn't get forwarded to your new address.

Had a hard time speeding down canyon tonight, being that we were stuck in a line of traffic going 25mph...

Saw 2 cops going up canyon, and 4 coming out...

I got out of a ticket that way only he said I was swerving, YAl I said you were right on my Fking ass with your brights on and I was blinded , I thought I was going to Die because some crazy was going to run into me.
You (Officer) made it Unsafe for me to drive. This was a State Trooper east of Idaho Springs. He really was right on my ass with his brights on.
I heard that the usual five miles over buffer is gone also due to funding
If the politicos learn what come after trillion your kids grandkids will be digging out of this fiasco

That puts almost every climber I have met in thirty plus years on that list.
Excluding gym climbers

Pissing in public is just that.A friend of mine got the same treatment from a state cop so we looked it up and it is NOT a sex crime. But as we all know, pushing their buttons might not be all that good.Happy peeing behind those trees in the middle of nowhere,or should I just piss myself officer?

I got pulled over for 90 in a 75 a few years back on the interstate in Nevada. It was 2 AM, straight highway for miles, and the only other car on the road turned out to be this cop. He said, "You need to slow it down. You don't want to hit a deer going 90 mph. I've seen it. It's pretty ugly." I was so tempted to say, "right, because hitting it at 75 would be just fine..." but I knew that wouldn't get me anywhere so I shut up and took the ticket.

I did once take an elk at 70'ish with a pick-up; sheared the front end almost clean off at a 45 angle. My german popped up off my lap (shepherd that is) -- oh boy, truck stopped, time for my walk.

I know, I know; why couldn't that thing just fly up in the windshield, 4000 some odd posts later and that guy is still a jackass....
