The start of the first crux.

Description

A good place to escape the crowds at the palace. There are three climbs here, including the classic Cirque de Poudre. The rock is much higher quality here than the rest of The Palace. Usually in the shade all day.

Getting There

This is pretty confusing.... Use the same approach as Wall with a view, but fork to the right and follow the trail up a hill, passing a short climb on the left. There are a couple of options to pick from for the 4th class downclimbs off to the right. Pick whichever looks best, and head down. Once on the ground, look uphill and you will see a good face with three climbs.

Right between the two cruxes.

Cirque de Poudre 5.12c  CO : Fort Collins : ... : Cirque de Poudre
Cirque de Poudre follows a straight line up a tall face, broken up by a few rests. The crux is in the first half, a series of hard sloper moves ending at a good jug to clip off. Up higher is another crux of a different character, which uses thin crimps to traverse right to a crack. This would get 13a if you avoid the crack at the top....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
