Keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment
|
|
Description Only takes a couple of moves. Probably not worth spending much time on, although there are a few different mantel problems on this same boulder.
Location Just off of the road (uphill side), downhill from the TV Screen. Has a very gentle slope on the top, with 3 sharp but short faces. Climbs are on the E side, NE corner and NW corner. "Chopper Mantel" is the NW corner/side. Can walk on/off of the S side.
Protection Bouldering.

| There are many better problems on Woodson than this one unless: a) you really want to work on some short mantel problems, b) you're a "person who will climb anything," or c) you're like me and are looking for a very low-angle slab for your kids to "climb" on, but couldn't stand to just "walk on" to the slab. |

| Gotta disagree with ebb, because this is a classic clean mantleshelf that offers many difficult variations along it. People who arent into mantles tend to write them off out of a lack of understanding, but San Diego county is loaded with short, rounded rocks that abound with mantle problems, thus the area turns out some of the best mantle climbers to be found anywhere. If ya think mantles are candy, try cranking some of the harder ones around town. And Ebb, are you calling the NE corner (aka kamikazee mantle) 5.10? Did you do it? Its like hard 5.11 bro, so we must be talking about 2 different things. |
