BETA PHOTO: On line GSENM map

Description

Large sandstone pillar out in the middle of nowhere on a flat plain that I just found out was in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Therefore, a better place to scope this area out is to go to John Glimes previous submission by clicking on this link - John Glimes Chimney Rock Beta

Getting There

Just outside the town of Escalante take the "Hole In the Rock" road south. About 3/4 of the way down (38 miles off HW 12) toward Lake Powell on the left is a sandy jeep trail out to the pillar (see map attached).

Nothing Better To Do A1-2 PG13  UT : Grand Staircase : Chimney Rock
This remote and lonely pillar has an "old" 1/4" bolt ladder on its north side. The placements are ok but the stone is soft... be careful! See cover page for the original area link....[more]   Browse More Classics in UT
