Cheap, effective climbing pants?
I bought two sets of these and I am happy with them so far: Only $37 each on eBay. However, they are a bit light duty so I am looking for something else. What do you wear climbing? |
Something like this will do the job and last quite a while. Won't earn you any points with the style elite though. |

Whatever I can get at the thrift store for 2 bucks. I usually go for soft, loose fitting khakis. |
^^^^^ +1 - Gotta be cheap. I've ripped too many pairs of $50-$80 pants... |
I like these last two replies. |
Gander Mountain's convertible pants are 30 bucks. I've been wearing the same pair for 3 years and they're good as new. |
Those are hideous... not that I care about being stylish while climbing, I just don't want to look like a goober when I stop by the pub afterwards for a beer. |
I've been trying Kirkland Brand stretch woven kahkis from Costco. They run anywhere from $8-$15. They've done good so far. One pair lasted me the complete Muir Wall ascent and descent, plus many climbing days in Idyllwild and is still going strong, with only a small hole in one knee. |

Zions for sure |

Personally, I won't buy them, especially not for climbing, if that "feature" is included. They'd be a lot cheaper without them, to boot. I'd only wear the OP's pants ironically. |

WOW. Those baseball pants are sweet! |
I bought some Columbia women's size 10 capris at the store in yosemite. They do a great job showing off my junk, and chalk contrasts well on the fabric so women know I'm a climber. |

Hahah those are some spaceman pants in the OP! I go with Carhartts from the thrift store whenever I can. $10 or $15 tops usually. But I also spend most of my time in the more arid parts of the country where you can get away with wearing cotton. |

I put my topo in there when Im backpacking, my rollie tobacco pouch, some herb, etc. |

Gramicci and chef's pants for sport cragging. Stretch shoeller-like pants for longer routes where weather may be a consideration. |
What are those pants called 20kN? Theyre so awful I might just have to have them. |
