Hi there, headed north after climbing in Krabi. I'd like to climb in Chang Mai. My friend took the rope and quick draws home but I'm hoping to just rent. I can lead around a 6b or 5.10b-c. Anyone out there interested?

I was in the same boat as you, partnerless. No problem. There is a climbing store in town CMRCA (www.thailandclimbing.com/) and they provide transport and food to the crag. It is out of town about twenty minutes.

You can post on the board and contact others on the same (found at the CMRCA shop). I had no problem hooking up with other passengers my first day.

Me on a mixed route Crisco and I did in Rock Canyon.

I'm in Chiang Mai now but am working and leaving in a couple weeks. I don't think I'll climb again while I'm here, so I'm trying to sell my guidebook. I used it 5 times. Costs 500 baht new, and I'll sell it for 250. Message me if interested. It's in good shape.

And regarding what Manuel said, the climbing shop is indeed a good place to find partners. They have a bulletin board there where you can post or find other people. I looked at it last week and there were tons of names still on it, including people who had all the gear.

The ride out to Crazy Horse in the songthaew with CMRCA is more like 3540 minutes, not 20. It costs 300 baht and includes a lunch and water. It leaves the climbing shop at 8:30 in the morning and leaves the Crazy Horse parking lot to come back to Chiang Mai at 4:00 in the afternoon. You can also rent any climbing gear you need.

Awesome!Thank you for the advice. I read about the e'er climbing shop but wasn't sure how active the partner board would be. I'm interested in the climbing guide. Will arrive in Chang Mai mid-day tomorrow.
