Hey, Mountainproject, I've been exploring Cape Ann a bit this spring and summer, and have found several quarries out there that look like they'd make incredible DWS spots. I'm sure there are many more I haven't stumbled upon yet. Is there a history of deep water soloing out there? I know the area is a cliff jumping hotspot (I ran into a gathering of pro cliff divers this weekend), but I also know many of the quarries are surrounded by access issues due to past cliff diving accidents.
I explored one quarry on Kleimola Reservation, a public park that allows quarry swimming, that was quite promising but needs some cleaning first. I'm moving in a week but figured I'd post here to tip off potential motivated parties.
The neighbors I ran into were friendly, but we were being pretty quiet so the tides might turn if they get pissed off by a big scene - they apparently owned the land but donated it to the Essex Greenbelt. Essentially, get after it, but don't bring the hordes for risk of the Greenbelt altering its policies. There's maybe room for three cars, max.
PM me for details on the other main spot - it's privately owned and parking is horrendous, but they turn a blind eye to the cliff divers who tend to be a pretty wild user group, so DWS should be tame in comparison. I figure whoever ends up developing it should make the call about whether it's appropriate to post on MP.
Hey Matt, I live on cape Ann and there is a lot of DWS potential. You said your moving? I'd love to get down on some quarry climbing. I know a lot of potentially good spots
