Guess I'm old fashioned but that's what I like as well, though an old guitar getting handed around is sometimes nice... my favorite was the time in Arches when a friend brought along his shakohachi flute and someone from south America in the next campsite joined us with a nylon string guitar
Yeah, I dig that. Usually when the guitar gets passed to me I chuck into the woods. It's even better if a stick goes through the back end and makes that off-tune twang sound as it hits the strings.
Sucks when the wind blows and it sounds like an out-of-tune violin, though.
NickCO has XM satellite radio. Which is rad in Indian Creek. Not so much for the campfire, but more for the crag drive. AC/DC on the way to Way Rambo is bad ass.

Good full length albums are out there, you just gotta find them.
Thanks J. I will definitely check out your list. Am into a few of them already - been listening to MF Doom for a long time. Really enjoyed his stuff w/ Dangermouse (and anything that either of them collaborate on).
I know there is great music out there - sometimes it takes a place like this to find it! Best music I know is stuff that I hear from friends or acquaintances.

Deadmau5? Ha ha ha.
I used to do a lot of caving in Mexico with this hippie guy. He would get the acoustic guitar and sing at the campfire every night, which to him was fine and dandy. I once was sitting in my car listening to Nine Inch Nails during the day and he came over to me with this look on his face like I had committed the worst social faux pas ever. I was listening to amplified music that he didn't like.
