Todd Gordon on "Paisano Overhang".
Photo: Gordon C...

Description

Paisano Pinnacle sits on top of the Sunshine Face, and is very obvious from a distance (e.g. when viewed from Tahquitz Rock). It has an odd mix of routes, including the spectacular Paisano Overhang - an offwidth roof crack.

Getting There

Any route on the Sunshine Face will lead up to Paisano Ledge, at the base of the pinnacle. However, the easiest approach is Bye Gully. To descend from the top, most people rappel down to Paisano Ledge. The exception is using Superfly to go directly to the top of the rock.

Legend has it an (empty) bottle of Carlo Rossi Paisano used to reside on the summit. Hard men climb the Paisano Overhang with a Paisano Hangover!
