Eric sinking his tips into the start of Pump Facto...

Description

Even Popeye would catch a pump on this one, so eat yer spinach! This short climb defines the word splitter. Pull off the ground on tips locks and move into big fingers. The crack then widens to hands for a stretch and then unrelenting fists to the top. A powerful finish gains the chains. It's hard to believe that forty feet can pack such a wallop.

Location

The Pump Factory is the obvious crack splitting an orange 40' boulder uphill and right (east) of the Toprope Wall. Scramble to the base from the left side (easiest) or bushwack from the right.

Protection

One each 1/2" to 1.5", doubles 2"-3". One #4 Friend is nice to have at the top.

Fantastic route. Great for running laps to build up some endurance. We thought maybe a letter, or even two, harder than the suggested grade of 11b for the onsight.

Pump Factory... It's been called puke factory by many... you may have to vomit at the top from over exertion. A great climb in one of the best crack climing ares in Tahoe.
