Description

June Lake has very good bouldering areas, with some of them matching the quality of the better known areas, such as the Happy and Sad areas, the Sherwin Plateau, or the Buttermilks, located a few miles south closer to the town of Bishop.

If you like solitude and great bouldering head this way, as many times you'll have the areas to yourself.

The rock type is many volcanic tuff, but you'll also be able to find some Granite closer to town.

Getting There

June Lake is situated a few miles west (on the 158) from the 395, about 50 miles north of Bishop.

Parking Area Prow

Parking Area Prow V3  CA : Sierra Eastside : ... : "Stone Crusade" Boulders

This sit start problem begins on the low rail along the sun/shade line in the photo. Using the hueco in the middle of the face, head for the jug at the lip of the prow. The heel hook and dyno for the jug make this problem really fun....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
