BETA PHOTO: Northeast side of the 'Beekeeper Boulder'

Description

A striking, huge leaning boulder featuring some of the best lines at the 'Pollen Grains', or the 'Buttermilks', or Bishop...

If there happened to be a 'Best Boulder in Bishop Contest', this beauty would be a strong contender.

The northeast side of the boulder features a super-steep cave/roof with amazing holds that lead out to the very intimidating upper face, where only the boldest dare to venture. Numerous problems and variations exist under the roof, and the climbing is simply addicting.

On the other side, two amazing and hard highballs are found on each of the aretes, 'Golden Shower' v10, and 'Mesothelioma' v7. Both are two of the most impressive lines in the Buttermilks.

This boulder will keep just about everybody satisfied.

Getting There

From the main trail, take the right fork at the 'Spectre Boulder' and head up the hill to the obvious huge boulder. You'll see the roof on the right side.

Before you jump on the upper section, be sure to realize the seriousness of the down-climb, which is down the northeast face/arete. It basically climbs as three boulder problems: the roof to the crux, the crux sequence and a couple moves, then the heady, high, and i...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
