PSOM Slab

Description

"Palisade School of Mountaineering Slab"

A large slab of white granite broken by countless cracks, seams, and ledges, with both blank and featured faces to test your friction skills on.

The angle of the PSOM is pretty mellow for the most part, but many other sections can be found of varying steepness. The money route here is 'Racing Lizards', with a short but superb section of 5.7 finger crack near the top of the first pitch. Put up in '03 by Greg Barnes and Karin Wuhrmann, it has quickly become a new classic on the slab and a great intro to the climbing here. A couple other lines on the left side of the slab have also gone up in the last year, awaiting other ascents...

This is another area with only a bundle of established lines. Few of the climbs are more than one or two pitches, and on a slab of around 700 feet or so, it doesn't take a genius to realize the potential higher up.
