Brad Watson on the FA of "Skill Saw Gourmet" (5.11...

Description

Skill Saw Gourmet is a lot tougher than it looks. The move to the first bolt is challenging but is easier than what follows. After you clip it you have a myriad of flared hands and suspect feet at your disposal. Move right past the second bolt and work the arete up past the next couple bolts. Its like a good boulder problem followed by some more pumpy stuff. Finally you reach an easy slab which you basically walk up until the steeper part right at the top. For this it is wise to place a cam in the crack on the left.

Protection

Skill Saw Gourmet is fairly well protected. There are four bolts and an old piton between the first and second bolts to ensure your climbing experience is devoid of deck-falls. Also you should bring a 1.5-2.5 inch cam to protect the last move beneath the anchors.

Definitely harder than it looks from the ground. Very fun and challenging right off the ground. Piton has a new sling.
