Summit Rock has been shut down for seasonal raptor nesting; however, County Parks wants to make this a blanket, indefinite closure, continuing long after the chics have fledged (i.e. between Feb. 1st and July 31st).

BETA PHOTO: Route diagram for Wide Crack, Bolt Filcher, Ribbed...
Description
A great route, mixed trad/sport for leaders, one of the few moderates at Summit Rock. About halfway down the "Lower Tier" in Morris's guidebook. You'll notice a prominent "chimney" in the lower portion of the climb, topped by a chockstone. After surmounting the chockstone, climb to a ledge, where a (surprise) wide crack begins. The crack offers a super-fun intro to liebacking and ascends 20-25 feet to the anchor.
Protection
A small crack on the left of the lower chimney will take a small nut. Tie off chockstone at the top of the chimney. Two bolts protect the namesake wide crack. Two-bolt anchor, irritatingly close to the lip if you want to rappel!
