Mission Gorge, Middle Earth.


Description 

Middle Earth contains several short and enjoyable climbs such as Sam I Am, a.k.a Left of Dimrill Stairs, The Dimrill Stair, Shelob's Lair, Easy Rider, Shadowfax, Caradhras.


Getting There 

From the kiosk at the first climbers loop enterance, follow the trail up the hillside along several switchbacks until the trail turns to the climbers left (north) as you approach several prominent formations. These formations, which can been seen easily from the parking lot, are Middle Earth.

Face climb starts on classic Mission Gorge polished grey slickrock and finishes on classic Mission Gorge sticky orange rock requiring delicate moves. Apparently going left at the third bolt is slightly easier. I would recommend straight up, bolt to bolt.I have heard that there was a variant of LSD enjoyed by our troops in Vietnam back in that time known as Orange Sunshine.
